My parents always told me to dream big and that I could do whatever I wanted in life as long as I put my mind to it. My running career has become an embodiment of that belief. I graduated high school as a 5:13 miler and continued on to compete at Hillsdale College, a small DII school. While I dealt with several injuries and setbacks during my time there, I always came back stronger and went on to win three national championships my senior year in the Mile, 1500, and 800.
After graduating from Hillsdale with a year of eligibility left, I had the opportunity to compete at the University of Michigan for my final year. Injury was an issue again, but I was able to compete all three seasons, which was highlighted by anchoring the DMR to a national championship in 2013.
My continued success and improvement meant that running at an elite level was now a possibility. I currently train at the University of Michigan under the direction of Mike McGuire, who was also my coach while I competed there. I have consistently improved over the last three years as a professional level athlete, highlighted by my recent 3rd place finish at the Millrose Games in 4:26,63, making me the 9th fastest American woman in the indoor mile. I look forward to continuing that success as I grow stronger as both an athlete and a person!
